About the Center

The Center for Behavioral Health Solutions is the private practice and consultancy of Daniel M. Cheron, Ph.D., ABPP. Dr. Cheron is a licensed psychologist and current President of the American Board of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. He graduated from Boston College with a B.A. in Psychology and received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Boston University, where he worked extensively researching and treating anxious children and adolescents at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CARD). He completed his doctoral psychology internship at the May Institute in their community-based Behavioral Health Services Division and completed his postdoctoral fellowship The Baker Center for Children and Families / Harvard Medical School, where he worked on multiple grant-funded projects investigating the effectiveness of evidence-based treatments for youth with anxiety, depression, disruptive behavior, and traumatic stress in community mental health clinics.

Dr. Cheron specializes in the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders and has extensive experience in the use of empirically-based interventions for disruptive behavior problems, traumatic stress, and depression in children, adolescents, and young adults. He specializes in working with children, teens, and young adults (ages 2-26) and their families, and has experience using the following evidence-based practices.

Dr. Cheron is also the Chief Psychologist and Vice President of Clinical Programs, Implementation, and Training at The Baker Center for Children and Families and an Instructor in Psychology at Harvard Medical School. At The Baker Center, he oversees a large portfolio of programs focused on improving the quality of mental health services for youth and families across the country. Some of the projects included:

  • Training and consulting to mental health providers in the implementation new evidence-based psychotherapy practices such as MATCH, PCIT, and TF-CBT.

  • Strategic planning, oversight, and managerial supervision of direct service provider mental health clinics serving youth and families through public and private insurance reimbursement.

  • Supporting state systems and large provider organizations in implementation and change management strategies for behavioral health improvement, including the development of Learning Collaboratives and Communities.

  • Leading the grant writing, management, and completion of federal, state, and private foundation funding worth over $8 million.

  • Providing technical assistance to child welfare systems across the country in order to facilitate improved mental health competency.

  • Developing and building a customized, cloud-base monitoring and feedback system to facilitate the use of measurement-based care in healthcare settings.

  • Directing the development of school-based and early-childhood mental health education programs.

  • Building and supporting training programs for practicum students, interns, and postdoctoral fellows students in mental health careers, including an American Psychological Association-accredited internship program.

Dr. Cheron has trained hundreds of clinicians in evidence-based practices and consulted on thousands of cases across the country. He has worked in over 20 states to facilitate improved behavioral health services and is experienced at working with a variety of community and systems partners to achieve results. Dr. Cheron is the author and co-author of multiple journal articles and book chapters on treatment and training in behavioral health and he lectures nationally and internationally to other professionals, schools, businesses, and parent organizations about youth mental health. Dr. Cheron is an active member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), the Society for Implementation Research Collaboration (SIRC), and the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) and regularly presents his research at annual conferences.
